This policy explains what happens to your data when you use PDF Compress. The short version: your PDF files are never sent to us.

1. Your PDF files

PDF Compress runs entirely in your web browser. When you select a PDF, the file is read into your browser's memory using standard browser APIs, rendered and re-encoded locally on your device, and offered back to you as a download.

At no point is your file transmitted to our servers, to any third party, or to any storage service. We have no ability to read, copy, retain, or recover your documents. When you close or refresh the tab, the file is released from memory and is gone.

Because processing is local, the tool continues to work even if your internet connection drops after the page has loaded.

2. Third-party code loaded by the page

To perform compression, the page loads two open-source JavaScript libraries from the Cloudflare CDN (cdnjs.cloudflare.com): PDF.js and jsPDF. Loading these libraries makes your browser send a normal web request to Cloudflare, which means Cloudflare may log your IP address and user agent as it would for any web request. Your PDF is not part of that request — only the library code travels over it, and it travels toward you, not away from you.

3. Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate usage — how many people visit, which pages they land on, and roughly where in the world they are. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and processes your IP address for this purpose.

Analytics records page views and interface events only. It never records file names, file contents, file sizes, or anything derived from your documents.

You can opt out at any time by using your browser's cookie controls, by enabling "Do Not Track" or an ad/tracker blocker, or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking analytics does not affect the compression tool.

We set no other cookies. We do not run advertising, retargeting, or fingerprinting scripts.

4. Accounts and personal information

PDF Compress has no accounts, no sign-up, and no login. We do not ask for your name, email address, or payment details, and we do not operate a database of users.

5. Children's privacy

This service is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

6. Your rights

Data protection laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data held about you. Since we hold no personal data beyond aggregate analytics, there is generally nothing for us to return or erase. For analytics data, Google acts as the processor — see Google's Privacy Policy.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change how the tool handles data, we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date above.
